The Reformer

Your Enneagram personality type is the Reformer. You are deeply driven by the pursuit of perfection. Whether in your personal life or your professional pursuits, you know that you’re capable of the best and you’re unwilling to settle for any less. You resent corruption, inefficiency and imbalance. Your drive for perfection can often come as arrogance or hypocrisy, but your desire to shake things up is sincere. When balanced you have the remarkable ability to change things for the better. Be patient, trust yourself, and work towards making life as perfect as you know it can be!

Reformers are conscientious and ethical, with a strong sense of right and wrong. They are teachers, crusaders, and advocates for change: always striving to improve things, but afraid of making a mistake. Well-organized, orderly, and fastidious, they try to maintain high standards, but can slip into being critical and perfectionistic. They typically have problems with resentment and impatience.

At their Best: wise, discerning, realistic, and noble. Can be morally heroic.

  • Basic Fear: Of being corrupt/evil, defective
  • Basic Desire: To be good, to have integrity, to be balanced
  • Enneagram One with a Nine-Wing: “The Idealist”
  • Enneagram One with a Two-Wing: “The Advocate”

Key Motivations: Want to be right, to strive higher and improve everything, to be consistent with their ideals, to justify themselves, to be beyond criticism so as not to be condemned by anyone.

When moving in their Direction of Disintegration (stress), methodical Reformers suddenly become moody and irrational at Four. However, when moving in their Direction of Integration (growth), angry, critical Reformers become more spontaneous and joyful, like healthy Sevens.

Jehovah’s Witness leader urges elders to destroy child sex abuse records

The Watchtower has settled multiple lawsuits filed by former members across the country, many of whom claimed that they were sexually abused as children — and that their abusers were protected by elders who enforced the religion’s rules, like one that requires sexual assault victims to find two eyewitnesses to support their allegations.

A video recording of Bartlett’s talk was leaked online by an anonymous person early 2018.

“We know that the scene of this world is changing, and we know Satan’s coming after us, and he’s going to go for us legally.”

“We can see by the way things are shaping up. So the organization has said, ‘We’ve run into difficulties in the past because of the records we have.'”

Shawn Bartlett, the Witnesses’ record management overseer, explained that handwritten notes and drafts of internal documents needed to be destroyed because of the potential legal harm they posed to the organization, which has eight million followers worldwide. — Philly.com, July 9, 2018
